where it all began: the real ex’s
What started as intimate living room gatherings quickly evolved into something much more powerful. These conversations—often centered around relationships, self-worth, intimacy, mental health, body image, and the realities of navigating midlife—revealed just how much women were craving spaces where they could speak openly and be heard without judgment.
From that realization, The Real Ex’s of Portland Podcast was born.
The podcast became an extension of those early gatherings—a place where stories were shared openly, where vulnerability was met with compassion, and where listeners could feel less alone in their own experiences. It wasn’t about perfection or performance; it was about truth, connection, and creating a sense of belonging for women who often felt unseen or unheard.
Over time, a small but deeply connected community began to grow around The Real Ex’s. It became more than a podcast—it became a movement rooted in honesty, resilience, and the power of women supporting women.
In August 2025, as life naturally shifted and two partners moved on to new opportunities and family commitments, The Real Ex’s came to a close. That chapter ended, but its impact did not.
The foundation it built—real conversations, meaningful connection, and a willingness to show up authentically—is what gave rise to what exists today.
Sisterhood Society PDX and Sisterhood Health & Lifestyle: Not Your Mother’s Midlife Magazine are the evolution of that original spark. While The Real Ex’s centered on storytelling and shared experiences, Sisterhood expands that vision into a broader platform—one that blends personal stories with expertise, resources, and a growing community of women committed to supporting, educating, and empowering one another.
It’s still about connection. It’s still about honesty. It’s still about women showing up for women. Just in a bigger, more expansive way. And while The Real Ex’s is no longer active, its voice lives on. The Real Ex’s of Portland Podcast is still available on Spotify, preserving the conversations, stories, and moments that started it all.
Because without The Real Ex’s, there would be no Sisterhood.
Before Sisterhood Society PDX and Sisterhood Health & Lifestyle came to life, there was The Real Ex’s—a deeply personal beginning rooted in connection, vulnerability, and unexpected friendship.
Early 2020, during a time when the world still felt uncertain and isolating, four women—Heather, Deri, Sofie, and Amy—found themselves brought together through shared experiences with someone known simply as “Mr. X.” What could have remained a painful or complicated chapter instead became the catalyst for something meaningful. Through honest conversations, laughter, and moments of raw truth, they created a space where they could show up fully as themselves—unfiltered, supported, and understood.
